Our Katie's Krops Growers at DuBose Need Our Help to Rebuild Their Garden!
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
For a decade, students at DuBose Middle School have been growing year-round with Katie's Krops. Their garden, centrally located in the school's courtyard, has been a tool to educate students, empower youth, and provide healthy fresh food to those in our community struggling with food insecurity and hunger. The DuBose Katie's Krops Garden has impacted countless lives in the Lowcountry over the past ten years.
After a decade of growth, the garden requires a major overhaul, and we are asking for your support to allow students to increase their impact in 2021. With students returning to school, we have been granted permission to give the garden a much-needed make-over! Our timeline is extremely short, but we know we can make it happen before spring planting with your support.
Many garden beds have been in use for ten years and are in a state of disrepair. Hurricane Matthew took down the tree at the center of the garden allowing even more sun to shine but leaving behind a large stump. The soil needs to be amended, and irrigation improved. Decaying wood chips surrounding the beds need to be removed. The garden shed no longer has doors. It is time to build a new, beautiful, and productive garden where the students can thrive and learn.
We have ten days to raise $2,100 to give the students at DuBose the garden of their dreams!
